Applications and Benefits

Benefits of HBA1 Added to Standard Batteries Post-manufacture:

•Lifespan is substantially increased in real-world testing, with remarkable rejuvenation measured in end-of-life units.

•Prevents battery plate degradation by retaining lead oxide mass on the plates..

•Reduces sulphation by catalysing a cleaner, lower-loss reaction during each charge / discharge cycle

•Acts as a catalyst for the dissolution of both hydrogen and oxygen gasses back into the electrolyte as the gasses form. This greatly reduces gaseous emissions, reducing the risk of explosive gas buildup and also consequential electrolyte loss.

•Optimises performance. Treated batteries shown to rejuvenate to their optimal (as new) performance level in many cases.

•Charge time - the time taken to reach full capacity is significantly reduced due to improved electro-chemical reaction efficiency

•Charge energy – the energy required to charge to 100% capacity is significantly reduced
•Operation time between charges is increased

•Costs associated with charging are proportionately reduced

•Servicing requirements are proportionately reduced

Reduction of Internal Resistance:

During charge and discharge cycles hydrogen and oxygen gasses evolve on the battery plates. That causes three issues that HBA1 solves:

1. Gas evolution on the plates reduces the available surface area for active electrolyte contact. The efficiency of the chemical reaction is therefore reduced, increasing internal resistance and energy losses leading to heat generation. HBA1 catalyses the reaction of the gas bubbles back into H2O in the electrolyte as they form, resulting in further efficiencies.

2. Heat buildup on the plates – this causes plates to warp over time leading to battery aging. Batteries need to operate under 60 °C, if the temperature routinely exceeds this the plates start to bend (warp). HBA1 keeps battery temperature below 54C at rapid charge.

3. Reduction of the gasses back into electrolyte virtually eliminates electrolyte losses during the lifetime of the battery.
